The Water Treatment and Basic Sanitation Certification Programme is the only certification of its kind administered in Guyana. This programmes is administered by the University of Guyana and is a precursor for all SME water treatment facilities to obtain a licence to operate.
This programme is done as a prerequisite for the certifying of Water Operators and targets the following categories of persons:
- Water Purification Companies
- Agro Processing Enterprises
- Hotels
- Water Analyst & Technicians
The training provides participants with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to operate a water treatment facility.
Upon successful completion of the course participants are awarded a certificate from the University of Guyana, Institute for Distance and Continuing Education which supports the application for the license to operate any water treatment or juice processing facility to the Food and Drug Department of Guyana.
